You can play golf here on open seaside courses and on sheltered woodland courses. For those who have never held a golf club but who would like to try golf there are several short hole courses to try out. For the professionals there are water hazards and deceptive stone walls to overcome at the same time as coping with the west wind.
Varberg Golf Club’s "Western Course" is famous for its large undulating (descending) greens and it is ranked as one of the best in the country. Opened by Prince Bertil in 1976, the "Eastern Course", including the 18-hole facility is Varberg’s most prestigious golf course. It has undulating terrain and Lake Grimsjön glitters below the twelfth fairway.
Klosterfjorden Golf Club has an 18-hole course with nine greens, adjacent to Kungsgården in Åskloster. The course offers fast, level greens and is trickier than is generally believed.
Harabäcken Golf Club has an 18-hole course that is characterised by parkland and heath. It is a challenging course for the average golfer, at the same time as it whets the appetite of beginners.
At Hofgård Golf Club in Rolfstorp there is a varied full length course with a driving range in a beautiful environment. It is one of the courses in Sweden that has been maintained organically over the longest period.
Blixtorp Golf Course offers a 9-hole Pay & Play course, a driving range and a complete practice area for bunker training, chipping and putting.
Kärradal Golf Course. A short hole course with a seaside feel. Includes a simple café.
Several of Varberg’s hotels offer golf packages. You can combine your golf holiday with other activities including spa, sea fishing trips, shopping in Varberg or at GeKås (33 km from Varberg).
